This 2 day in person training course is for those practitioners who wish to raise their awareness and understanding of speech, language and communication needs (SLCN) of children and young people in conflict with the law, with a focus on upholding their rights.
Day 1 will focus on the practicalities of SLCNs – awareness and prevention, the impact of trauma and adversity, how can systems and processes be safe, supportive and accessible?
Day 2 will focus on how practitioners can uphold the rights of those children in conflict with the law, including how children would like practitioners to work with them in meeting their communication needs.
This exciting course will enable participants to exchange knowledge and experience while reflecting and sharing practice to raise awareness of SLCNs through the use of case studies, research and tools specifically designed for working with children with communications needs.
