Tue 25 Feb 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM GMT
Online, Teams
In this webinar Dr Peter Yates will provide an overview of some of the main findings and key recommendations for practice from a comprehensive review of forty years of research on sibling sexual abuse. This review was published in Child Abuse and Neglect in 2024. This webinar will be of particular interest to anyone who supports children and young people who have engaged in harmful sexual behaviour, or who seek to support the families in such a situation. Due to the nature of this webinar some attendees may find the content distressing.
Peter is a qualified social worker with particular experience of working within a specialist service supporting children and young people who have displayed harmful sexual behaviour. As a Lecturer in Social Work he has published a number of papers on the subject of sibling sexual behaviour and abuse, and is co-author of Yates, P. and Allardyce, S. (2023) Sibling sexual behaviour: A guide to responding to inappropriate, problematic and abusive behaviour, and Yates, P. and Allardyce, S. (2021) Sibling sexual abuse: A knowledge and practice overview, both published by the Centre of Expertise on Child Sexual Abuse.
