Youth against violence. Zambia

UNICEF

Abstract

Kapaya Kaoma lives in Lusaka, Zambia. As a student with an ambition to become a human rights lawyer, he advocates against the sexual exploitation and abuse of children, participating in several child rights groups in his community. He travelled to New York in May 2006 to participate in the United Nations Secretary-General's Study on Violence against Children.

"Children don't learn from violence – they become more withdrawn and hostile," says Kapaya. "They become more detached from the adult who commits the violent act against them."
