Youth against violence: Venezuela

UNICEF

Abstract

Harry Lopez works in some of the most violent neighbourhoods in Caracas, Venezuela. He counsels children and young people affected by gang violence. He has also been working to promote children's rights and mediating conflicts between students at his school. He travelled to New York in May 2006 to participate in the United Nations Secretary-General's Study on Violence against Children.

"Violence is a monster with a thousand heads," says Harry. "If you cut one head, another one comes out."
