The young prison population in Greece continues to grow. The starting point was that there has been a conflict, or ‘crime’ and we would like to react to it. In our response we use the paradigm of 'restorative justice'. The purpose of that study was to explore why we chose this concept, and what is its possible impact on those who have been involved in the conflict with special regard to the juvenile offender.

This publication articulates the intersection between children’s rights and restorative justice principles both in theory and application by introducing the Rights Based Restorative Practice Evaluation ToolKit. The legal framework underpinning Rights Based Restorative Justice (RBRJ) was first developed and presented by the authors within the context of Canadian social policy and youth justice practices. Conceptualized through the lenses of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC) and international standards relevant to restorative justice, the authors argue that RBRJ contributes to ethical practice with young people in conflict with the law, within schools, and the broader community within many states.
