Abstract

Paper submitted in the First International Conference of Juvenile Justice "Juvenile Justice and the Prevention of Juvenile Delinquency in a Globalized World". Salamanca 2004.

I am the Managing Director of Work-Wise Nederland, a joint venture between twelve custodial institutions for juveniles. All these institutions are offering their youngsters an into-employment programme based on the principles of the Work-Wise methodology. My work experience related to juveniles started twenty years ago. My first job was being a special education teacher for a school of an open custodial institution and then I have been manager of different projects and headmaster of the school of a custodial institution. It was in that time we, my collegeas and I, were starting to develop the Work-Wise programme.
